Brilliant Midnight: A community art show opening winter 2027. Submit your art today. Lake Placid Public Library

The Lake Placid Public Library wants your art that showcases the light, dark, and shadows to bring our community together this winter. We welcome artists to submit paintings, photography, fiber art, sketches, collage/mixed media, and sculpture, but if you have something that isn’t on this list, please send it our way for consideration. The Lake Placid Public Library‘s community art show is just that–a place for varied creative voices in the depths of our North Country winter. Established and emerging artists are encouraged to submit their work.  

To submit your work for consideration, please fill out the online submission form and include:

  • Digital image of your work
  • 100-200 word artist statement
  • Dimensions of your work
  • Media type (example: painting, photograph, film, sculpture, textile, etc.)
  • If this artwork has been shown before, please include when and where it was shown (example: Lake Placid Center for the Arts, July-August 2023)

The Wead Library in Malone, NY seeks a qualified Librarian 1 to serve our vibrant community. We seek an innovative, creative, and detail-oriented professional who will be a strong and positive presence in the library and when out in the community. Malone is located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in the St. Lawrence River Valley close to many lakes and hiking trails. Malone is also within easy driving distance to Lake George and Lake Placid NY, Ottawa ONT, Montreal QUE and Vermont. Malone is home to the Almanzo Wilder Farm (setting of Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder), a 36-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones and its very own Recreational Park and Rotary Lake. Titus Mountain, which earned the “top family-friendly ski area in North America” Best in Snow award, is less than 8 miles from Malone.

The ideal candidate will be a community leader, building relationships with community groups. Candidates should feel comfortable working with families and initiating and implementing programs for children, adolescents, and families.
